Marjorie Mason

"Inspirations from Gardens Around The World"

Friday, April 3, 2015 - 10:30 am

Marjorie Mason is an enthusiastic gardener who enjoys sharing her ideas with others. She started gardening at a very early age on her parents’ market garden farm near Peterborough.

During the winter of 1987, Marjorie purchased a property south of Uxbridge which is now Mason House Gardens – a retail plant centre and display garden.

Marjorie has a passion for gardening in containers and was instrumental in promoting the concept of B.C. style moss baskets in Ontario. She is now advocating the use of houseplants, bulbs, edibles and perennials in pots as well. She uses the term “Potscaping” to describe the grouping together of containers into pleasing arrangements.

Marjorie lectures across Canada and the U.S. on a variety of topics. In addition to authoring “Amazing Annuals” in 1999, she has written articles for Canadian Living, Canadian Gardening, Harrowsmith, Canadian Wildlife Federation, and Landscape Ontario magazines.

In 1990, she was given the Garden Communicator of the Year Award by Landscape Ontario.

Marjorie hosts “Let’s Get Growing” Saturday mornings (March to October) from 9-10am on 1580 CKDO and 107.7 FM.

Marjorie has traveled extensively, hosting garden tours since 1985.  Her next tour is to the Gardens and Castles of Scotland.
